Williams in quarterfinals
Serena Williams may be the only person who is not impressed with the way she is playing at the Australian Open.
The seventh-seeded Williams made short work of Nicole Vaidisova, eliminating the 12th-seeded Czech, 6-3, 6-4, in a fourth-round match at the $20.6 million Grand Slam on Sunday.
The defending champion, Williams has not lost a set here, though she is not completely satisfied with her game.
“I felt like I didn’t have a lot of rhythm out there. I felt like lazy, like I wasn’t moving the way I wanted to,” Williams said. “I just want to move better and just make a few less errors like I did. I think my second round, I didn’t make that many unforced errors, so I want to do that again.”
The 26-year-old Williams improved to 4-0 lifetime against Vaidisova, who reached the semifinals here a year ago.
“It’s definitely interesting playing her,” Williams said. “She’s so unpredictable. I think that’s really a good thing. Last couple of times I played her, her serve has just been really, really, really good. She’s just, you know, really a bright future.”
